Израильская компания Israel Weapon Industries (IWI), специализирующаяся на разработке, производстве и продаже вооружения, представила свой новый самозарядный пистолет Masada калибра 9-мм с ударниковым УСМ и полимерной рамкой.

Автоматика пистолета Masada работает по схеме использования отдачи подвижного ствола при его коротком ходе. Запирание канала ствола затвором осуществляется по системе с перекосом ствола, сцеплением массивного выступа над казённой частью ствола с окном для выброса стреляных гильз в затворе. Стволы изготавливаются методом холодной ковки, канал ствола с полигональной нарезкой.

Насечка на затворе имеется как задняя, так и передняя. Производитель заявляет о низком расположении центральной оси ствола над затыльником рукоятки, что уменьшает подброс при выстреле и положительно сказывается на скорости возврата оружия на прицельную линию после выстрела. Ударно-спусковой механизм ударникового типа, с предварительно взведённым ударником. Усилие спуска от 2,5 до 3,1 кг.

Опционально доступна версия пистолета IWI Masada с флажковым предохранителем, также двухсторонним. Имеется автоматический предохранитель ударника.

Выбрасыватель дополнительно выполняет функцию указателя наличия патрона в патроннике, позволяя владельцу определить дослан ли патрон визуально и тактильно.

Пистолет Masada комплектуется тремя сменными модулями рукоятки разных размеров, предназначенных для адаптирования размера рукоятки к руке владельца оружия, что повышает удобство удержания и точность стрельбы. Крупная спусковая скоба позволяет стрелять из пистолета в толстых перчатках. Прицельные приспособления с тремя тритиевыми вставками, не регулируемые.

Конструкция пистолета IWI Masada обеспечивает быструю, простую и безопасную разборку оружия без необходимости нажатия на спусковой крючок.

Опционально доступны прицельные приспособления с тремя тритиевыми точками для прицеливания в условиях слабого освещения и в тёмное время суток.

В передней части рамки имеется планка Пикатинни MIL-STD 1913 для крепления к пистолету фонаря или ЛЦУ. Пистолет будет доступен в четырёх цветах — «sniper gray», «OD green», «black» и «flat dark earth».

Рекомендованная производителем розничная цена пистолета IWI Masada пока не называется. В продажу новый израильский пистолет должен поступить в первом квартале 2018 года.

Parting Shots

The IWI Masada is a really compelling EDC gun that’s geared for any role you would normally see a G19, but upgraded in nearly every way. Optics ready, railed for a flashlight, nicely designed, and under $480. We wait for further long-term reliability reports and holster accommodation.

While we ran over 500 rounds though the Masada, that is a tiny number in the grand scale. We’ll stay on top of other range reports and your comments to track just how well the Masada does once it is out in the wild.

But so far – we are very impressed!

В 2017 году в соревнование «Чей „глокоид“ лучше?» включилась израильская компания IWI (Israel Weapon Industries Ltd.) со своим пластиковым «страйкером» под названием Masada. А совсем недавно появилась его версия с возможностью монтажа коллиматорных прицелов.

Представитель IWI US, Inc. назвал новинку «серьёзным конкурентом на рынке для гражданских и государственных заказчиков», подчеркнув, что Masada был разработан в соответствии с современными военными требованиями, а характеристики оружия были выбраны на основе отзывов, полученных от военных, правоохранительных органов и стрелков-спортсменов.

На самом деле, такое мнимое совмещение разнородных потребительских характеристик оружия сродни эффективности универсальной таблетки от головной боли и диареи (во всяком случае, это весело) — средненький пистолет просто теряется в модельном ряду тех же «Глоков», отлично адаптированном под самые разные задачи. Но, успеху новинки «с оптикой» может способствовать разумная цена — $ 480, поскольку мода на пистолетные коллиматоры ещё не прошла.

Новый ударниковый пистолет имеет калибр 9×19, оснащён кованым стволом длиной 104 мм (нарезы полигональные, шаг 254 мм). Ствол расположен предельно низко. Рамка изготовлена из высокопрочного армированного стекловолокном полимера. Masada имеет эргономичную конструкцию с полностью двухсторонними элементами управления и тремя сменными спинками рукоятки.

В пистолете используется взаимозаменяемый спусковой механизм из высококачественной стали, который легко снимается, обеспечивая простую и лёгкую разборку и обслуживание. Для повышения безопасности стрелка спусковой крючок оснащён автоматическим предохранителем. Усилие спуска 2,7 кг. При общей длине 188 мм, масса пистолета составляет 649 г. Пистолет может комплектоваться 10 или 17-зарядными магазинами. В комплект предлагаемого в настоящее время пистолета Masada включены сменные монтажные пластины для следующих прицелов: Trijicon RMR, Leupold Delta Point, Sig Sauer Romeo 01 и Vortex Venom.

IWI MASADA 9mm polymer framed striker-fired pistol was developed in order to provide an advanced solution to the modern battlefield requirements. Much more than just another striker-fired pistol, the MASADA features a low profile barrel for reduced perceived recoil. Fully ambidextrous controls and enhanced ergonomics which provide a natural and instinctive pointing grip angle. Three interchangeable wrap around back-straps coupled with the deep beavertail enabling the MASADA pistol to fit a wide variety of hand sizes.

Masada’s frame is made of high strength, impact resistant fiberglass reinforced polymers. Like all IWI firearms, it is built to withstand and endure all types of military use and abuse in extremely harsh environmental conditions,

MASADA utilizes a modular serialized high grade steel trigger mechanism housing that can be easily removed, allowing simple and easy disassembly and maintenance.

MASADA’s trigger is designed to enhance the shooter’s accuracy and safety.  The MASADA trigger has an average pull from 5.5 to 7 Lb. with a clean and crisp break and a positive reset. Featuring a built-in trigger safety, the pistol will not fire unless the trigger is pulled. The shooter’s security is further enhanced during cleaning and maintenance as there is no need to pull the trigger in order to field strip the weapon.

The MASADA is OPTIC READY and includes interchangeable mounting plates for the Trijicon RMR, Leupold Delta Point, Sig Sauer Romeo 01, and Vortex Venom.

Named after an ancient fortification, the Masada is everything you would expect from a modern carry/duty firearm. Roughly the same size profile as the Glock 19, this gun is good to go right from the box.

Great Batman, these gun has features. Basic specs to know, it’s 9mm, short-recoil, and holds 17+1 rounds. Sights a bit basic with a simple 3-dot system, but it also comes optics ready!

Setting the Masada apart from the rest of the market are the 3 interchangeable backstraps (okay, those aren’t really unique – but a nice addition that most others are still missing) and the optics plates that are INCLUDED with the gun.

From the box the Masada has mounting plates for the Vortex Venom, Sig Romeo1, Leupold DeltaPoint, and Trijicon RMR.

Everything about the Masada is modern, it’s optics ready, it comes with two mags, it feels great, and of course, it front slide serrations.

Masada grips are grippy without being a problem either, great balance between the two. If you wanted to run this in a competition, you could get some stippling done – but that isn’t really where the Masada is meant to be.

The only thing not great about the package is the packaging itself. Sadly, the box is…very bleh. Ultra-thin cardboard is cheap, but it’s not something we love to see.

Range Report

Several hundred rounds of CCI 9mm and the Masada ran to perfection. Accurate, reliable, and very comfy to shoot.

Johnny had some slide-lock-back issues after the mag was spent, but these started to resolve themselves near the end of the test. This could very well just be the Masada breaking in.

The extra backstraps make it easy for all hand sizes to find their perfect grip.

However, the trigger isn’t outstanding. While no EDC gun has a match grade trigger out of the box that we’ve seen, the Masada’s was extra middle-of-the-road. Not bad, not great. Totally acceptable for EDC.

Two Frames

In our video and in our pictures the keen-eyed will note that there are two frame types for the Masada.

Note the trigger guard, on one frame it is angled sharply and on one frame it is flat.

The angled trigger guard was pre-production while the flat guard is the production American version.

This is done for American style flashlights to give them a solid rear contact point.

Disassembly

Crazy easy. Really one of the easiest pistols to disassemble on the market.

Turn the takedown lever, dry fire the pistol, and let the slide slip off the front. Just that simple.

Price Range?

The MSRP is at a crazy low $480, but MSRP is rarely the same price as what you’ll see in the store. Since these aren’t on the market yet, we don’t know what street price will be but we’re confident that it will be very affordable.

For the features that you get (two mags, optics ready, backstraps, etc) this is an outstanding bang-for-your-buck pistol.

Holsters

Since this is a brand new gun, holsters are a little harder to find right now. But IWI did work with a lot of the major brands so they could come out with holsters ASAP!

On some level, you’re gripping a giant piece of plastic. But overall good purchase, great grips, and not much to complain about.
